This painting has been created during three dives. Here you can see the same sunken boat as in the painting “New shipowners”“New shipowners”. A boat is lying at the bottom somewhere under the water, lost and alone, among sand and seaweed. It is no longer a part of the human world. The underwater kingdom has taken it for itself.
That is not the mechanisms and sides of the boat anymore, but the newly inhabited coral reef. It’s cold and dark around. From the angle chosen by me, the viewer can not see the outline of the boat’s hull at once. Some of my exhibition visitors recognized the painting to be distressing. They associated the stern of the boat with a coffin.
At the time of the final dive, I was hoping for the appearance of a turtle appearance. Unexpectedly a giant crocodile fish crawled up to pose for me. Well, that was something that had been sorely lacking to complete the composition.
P.S. Underwater artist Olga Belka appreciates the Diving Center «Anthias Divers» in Sharm El Sheikh for all the help and support in creating this painting.
