This painting, completed in four dives at a depth of five meters, is full of marine life variety. Here are the beautiful butterfly and striped damselfish and many other unknown fish. Notably, one fish – a boxy fish or a Boxfish especially worked hard to make everything happen. This oddly shaped, yellow spotted creature is in the foreground. It’s cub. Adults usually change color.
The Boxy fish did everything it could to attract attention. It was swimming between me and the canvas, poking a curious nose in the palette. It came into my hands with full trust and was constantly with me while I was busy painting not only this one but several other paintings. Eventually, we became friends. I dedicate this painting to my friend – Boxy fish and sincere friendship in its global sense.
P.S. Underwater artist Olga Belka thanks the Anantara group and especially the Anantara Dhugu resort in the Maldives for hospitality, full assistance, and support, as well as the Aquafanatics dive center for safety and the best diving conditions when creating this underwater artwork.
