Lifting the eyes, I see the sun rays going through the water, and sun glares running over the wavy surface, lighting up the coral tops. On this painting, the protagonist is the light. This piece was made in 5 dives, but what kind of dives those were! This amazing light kept leading me. Totally into my painting, I did not even notice divers behind me, nor the spectators on the surface.
On the fourth dive, after 90 minutes my assistant said that he got cold. I told him to go, and that I would follow in 10 minutes. I “woke up” only in an hour, when he came to my rescue. It turned out that I spent 2.5 hours under the water, totally charmed by the water beauty. And this happened almost every dive. And only the coming night made me leave my underwater workplace.
P.S. Underwater artist Olga Belka appreciates the Alexei Chernyaev’s diving club in Dahab for all the help and support in creating this painting.
